High $$ cars
These are some outrageously priced cars from B/J and other Auctions
Top and bottom, 70 LS6 factory super stock race car. Sold at B/J for 1.2 mil
454cid LS6 V8 automatic transmission with 61 miles showing on the odometer. This is the car that Ray Allen drove and won just about every conceivable race entered in 1970. This car won The US Nationals, The Super Nationals, The World Finals and most of the division races that were entered. This car has gone through a frame-off restoration that was mostly built and supervised by Ray Allen himself. This car is being sold with the original New Jersey title in Truppi & Kling's name and also comes with the original build sheet and various magazine and National Dragster articles about this World Champion Car and pictures at The Winners' Circle. This car is truly a legend in muscle car history.
1954 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE SPECIAL MOTORAMA CONCEPT CAR, Sold at B/J for 2.8 mil
It's said that Harley Earl, director of GM styling, got the idea for a GM concept car while watching world speed records being set at the Salt Flats in Utah. It would be a sports racer called a Bonneville Special. That was when 1954 models were being readied for production and no GM car had ever carried the Bonneville name. Perhaps Harley Earl gave the assignment to Pontiac as the birth of its upcoming performance image. Under the direction of Earl, Hommer LaGassey and Paul Gilland were directed to build two Bonneville Specials. The bronze car would debut in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf in New York and the Green one in the Pan Pacific Auditorium in Los Angeles. The Green one would later tour major dealerships around the country. The cars were showbiz and beyond production but realistic enough for the public to identify with them and make them contenders for best remembered Motorama cars.
1954 OLDSMOBILE F-88 GM CONCEPT CAR, Sold at B/J for 3 mil
The XP-20 project, commonly known as F-88 was a pet project of Harley Earl (working with him was Bill Mitchell, Ken Pickering, Zora Duntov etc.). Four cars came out of the project, but only styling order #2265 (this car) survived. It was sold or given to E.L. Cord (Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg owner) in 1955. Hundreds of internal GM documents and original blue prints are still with this sole survivor.
1950 GENERAL MOTORS FUTURLINER PARADE OF PROGRESS TOUR BUS, Sold at B/J for 4.1 mil
One of 12 built by GM, a self-contained display and transport vehicle created by the GM design staff under Harley Earl's direction. Opening side, lighting, retractable stage, distinctive center "cupola" cockpit driving position and dual wheel front axle. Used in the "Parade of Progress" touring exhibit created by "Boss" Kettering that complemented the GM "Motoramas" from 1940 through 1956. One of only three survivors restored in their original "Parade of Progress" configuration (the others are in long term ownership by NATMUS and Peter Pan Bus Lines), this Futurliner is fully functional and has toured Canada in corporate promotions. Recently returned to its original "Parade of Progress" configuration and colors. Powered by a 400ci GM truck engine and fully equipped including an onboard motor-generator and updated air conditioning for the driver's compartment. A matchless symbol of the American auto industry at the height of its power and influence.
1966 SHELBY COBRA 427 "SUPER SNAKE" , Sold at B/J for 5 mil
"Cobra To End All Cobras" by Harley E. Cluxton
I've been asked to comment on the authentication of CSX 3015 and its relevance in and to the collector world. In the last ten years, there has been an astronomical increase in values running through almost every facet of the collector car market.
With vast amounts of dollars, euros, sterling and yen changing hands, it is no wonder that Manufacturers like Ferrari, Mercedes Benz, Porsche and Jaguar all have their own 'official' Certification Centers. With the blessing of Carroll Shelby, the Shelby American Automobile Club, through its' Shelby American World Registry, lists every Cobra, every Shelby Mustang, and every Ford GT by chassis number with its known ownership history. Originality is the operative word in Collector Car Values. Generally, the degree of originality coupled with pedigree and limited production drives the price.
CSX 3015 is absolutely the real deal.
CSX 3015 is one of only 23 (not 22) 427 competition roadsters built;
